The KR-18 is a standing seam roofing (SSR) panel, manufactured on-site using roll-forming equipment. It offers several key features:
Rolled and seamed on-site: Fabricated from gutter to ridge in one continuous piece, it avoids transverse overlaps.
Hidden-clip fastening: Clips are used instead of exposed screws, eliminating the need to drill through the panel and reducing leak risks.
Low-sloped roofs: Suitable for slopes as low as 2%, ideal for flat or gently sloping roofs.
Material and dimensions:
Effective width ≈ 45.7 cm (18″)
Rib height (peralte) ≈ 6.4 cm (2.5″)
Available in calibres (thicknesses) 20 to 26, with 24 often recommended
Finishes: Typically offered in Zintro (galvanized), Galvalume (Zintroalum), or pre-painted (Pintro / polyester) for corrosion resistance and visual appeal.
Typical uses include industrial roofs, warehouses, commercial buildings, metal-retrenching, and any application requiring long, leak-resistant, and thermally efficient roof profiles.
Here’s a streamlined installation guide:
1.Set up structure and fabrication
Position a suitable support structure (metal substructure or frame).
Use a portable roll-forming machine on-site to create panels of the needed length—from gutter to ridge.
2.Position the Clip System
Place fixed or sliding (thermal) hidden clips along the support line, roughly spaced per structural design.
Each clip needs at least 2 screws anchored into the structure using a torque-controlled drill to avoid damage.
3.Seam and Attach Panels
Engage panels edge-to-edge with a 90° or 180° seam—producing a tight interlock and hidden connection.
4.Fasten panels into the clips (no drilling through panels).
Allow for Thermal Movement
If using long panels, sliding clips are vital to accommodate thermal expansion/contraction. Ensure proper spacing and floating capability.
5.Finish Ridge and Sealing
At the ridge (cumbrera), add foam tape or closed-cell polyethylene at seam junctions for waterproofing. Then install the ridge cap.
6.Optional: Add Insulation
A panel system allows insertion of insulation materials (fiberglass, extruded polystyrene, etc.) underneath for improved thermal performance.
